The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) has been chosen by Brighton College to design a new building that will accommodate its Sport and Sciences departments. Emerging as a winner of an invited competition in 2013, the project was further developed and submitted for planning approval in July 2015. more

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art now open to the public
Moscow, June 16 - The new home of Moscow's Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by OMA, opened on June 11 to the press and on June 12 to the public. The project, led by Rem Koolhaas and Ekaterina Golovatyuk, is a renovation of the 1960s Vremena Goda (Seasons of the Year) restaurant located in Moscow's Gorky Park, turning the Soviet-era relic - a prefabricated concrete pavilion, derelict for more than two decades - into the first permanent space for the museum. more

The new Milan venue of the Fondazione Prada, seven years in the making and designed by OMA, opened to the press and on May 9 to the public. OMA designs nhow Amsterdam RAI - the largest hotel in the Netherlands
OMA, NH Hotel Group, and the developer COD have been announced by the City of Amsterdam, and Amsterdam RAI convention and exhibition centre as the winners of a tender to build the largest hotel in the Netherlands, the nhow Amsterdam RAI. This reflects the need for an on-site, headquarter hotel for Amsterdam RAI, as well as increasing its visibility and integration within the growing Zuidas business district. more

AMO curates “What Is The Netherlands” at Rotterdam’s Het Nieuwe Instituut
Coinciding with this year's 34th World Expo in Milan, the exhibition "What is the Netherlands," curated by AMO, opens on 25 April at Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. The exhibition is a wunderkammer of Dutch identities, revealing how the Netherlands conceived of and presented itself to the world at Expos since the early 20th century. more

OMA designs OPEN: a new door handle for Olivari
A new door handle, Open, designed by OMA for Olivari will be presented at this year's Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Rem Koolhaas was invited by the Italian manufacturer to design an innovative handle, a collaboration which led to a reduction of the element to its primary functional components: the hub and the lever. This modular separation results in two independent elements that join mechanically to generate multiple combinations of metals and finishes. more

OMA designs a Food Port in West Louisville
OMA has designed a masterplan for a mixed-use project that will provide a new centralized facility for the growing, selling and distribution of food for local farmers and the community. Working in collaboration with the non-profit Seed Capital Kentucky for the City of Louisville, the Food Port will take significant steps towards rejuvenating a 24-acre vacant site into an active economic and community hub. more

OMA opens new office in Dubai
The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) has opened a Dubai office to design and oversee projects in the MEA region. Together with headquarters in Rotterdam and offices in New York, Hong Kong, Beijing and Doha, OMA Dubai will strengthen the practice's presence in the Middle East, and also provide a connection point for future work in Africa and India. The office is located in Al Warsan Tower in TECOM. more

OMA designs a new lighting system for iGuzzini
A new lighting concept, the Laser Blade System53, designed by OMA for iGuzzini, marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the established Italian lighting manufacturer. OMA was invited to design the system following a collaboration on a special version of the Laser Blade Wall washer and custom-built library table for the Elements of Architecture Exhibition at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale. more
