OMA designs a Food Port in West Louisville
OMA has designed a masterplan for a mixed-use project that will provide a new centralized facility for the growing, selling and distribution of food for local farmers and the community. Working in collaboration with the non-profit Seed Capital Kentucky for the City of Louisville, the Food Port will take significant steps towards rejuvenating a 24-acre vacant site into an active economic and community hub. more

OMA opens new office in Dubai
The Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) has opened a Dubai office to design and oversee projects in the MEA region. Together with headquarters in Rotterdam and offices in New York, Hong Kong, Beijing and Doha, OMA Dubai will strengthen the practice's presence in the Middle East, and also provide a connection point for future work in Africa and India. The office is located in Al Warsan Tower in TECOM. more

OMA designs a new lighting system for iGuzzini
A new lighting concept, the Laser Blade System53, designed by OMA for iGuzzini, marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the established Italian lighting manufacturer. OMA was invited to design the system following a collaboration on a special version of the Laser Blade Wall washer and custom-built library table for the Elements of Architecture Exhibition at the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale. more

OMA announces masterplan project in Grand Lyon, France

OMA is currently working on an urban renewal masterplan for Vallee de la Chimie.

"La Vallee de la Chimie" is one of  the biggest chemical and petrochemical parks in Europe, located on the outskirts of Lyon, France. With more than 1 000 companies, 6 research and development centers and 20 000 jobs concentrated on 800 hectares, la Vallee de la Chimie encompasses all contemporary challenges related with urban renewal. The historical conditions that once allowed it to flourish, now isolate it from the rest of the city and hamper its development.

OMA + OLIN win 11th Street Bridge Park competition in Washington DC

OMA and landscape architect OLIN win the competition for the 11th Street Bridge Park in Washington DC. The scheme was unanimously selected by the jury, in addition to receiving the recommendation of the design oversight committee and topping the public poll.

11th Street Bridge Park will be located on the original pillars of a decommissioned road bridge, spanning the Anacostia River to connect the exiting Anacostia Park on one side with Washington Navy Yard on the other.

OMA joins New Cities Foundation

OMA is pleased to announce that it has joined the New Cities Foundation as a member.

This is an exciting step in the ongoing collaboration between OMA and the New Cities Foundation, which has so far seen Rem Koolhaas give the keynote speech at Cityquest - KAEC Forum in Saudi Arabia (2013), and Reinier de Graaf participate in a Smart Cities panel at the New Cities Summit in Dallas in June 2014.

Prince Plaza Building in Shenzhen designed by OMA breaks ground today
Shenzhen, 22 July 2014 - Construction begins today on the OMA-designed Prince Plaza Building in Shenzhen, China. The 209-meter office tower responds to the transformation of Shekou, Shenzhen's first developed industrial area, into a new commercial and creative hub.

OMA’s De Rotterdam, G-Star Raw HQ & Shenzhen Stock Exchange have been shortlisted for World Architecture Festival awards in Singapore
De Rotterdam has been shortlisted by WAF in the Completed Buildings - New and Old category; G-Star Raw HQ in the Completed Buildings - Production Energy and Recycling category; and Shenzhen Stock Exchange in the Completed Buildings - Office category. The winners will be decided after presentations on October 1 and 2 at the 2014 WAF in Singapore. more

De Rotterdam Awarded Best Tall Building in Europe by CTBUH

OMA's recently completed tower, De Rotterdam, has been awarded Best Tall Building in Europe by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

In addition, De Rotterdam has been nominated by CTBUH for Best Tall Building Worldwide. The ceremony to present the regional awards and announce the global winner will take place this November in Chicago. (OMA's CCTV Headquarters in Beijing was awarded 2013 Best Tall Building Worldwide.)

OMA wins competition to design Axel Springer’s new media centre in Berlin
OMA's design for Axel Springer's new media centre in Berlin has been chosen as the winner in the final round of a public design competition. The building will embody Axel Springer's corporate shift from print to digital media, and will create a new hub in the existing Axel Springer campus in central Berlin. more
